1:1 Kickoff
Your Causable Journey begins with a personal conversation. Together we explore where you stand, what you will need in order to succeed in your planned endeavor, and which skills you want to develop further over the coming months. We map the resources you can already build on, and identify your next learning steps on this leg of your journey.
Coaching prompts
The journey is an interactive conversation that guides you through reflection and helps you hone your judgment and decision-making skills. We support you in structuring your approach and steering course on your development path through coaching prompts that are designed to help you see more clearly. Your tutor is always just one click away, at your side virtually at all times. To better understand where your thinking is going, and how your personal explorations went, we of course expect you to answer back.
Module 1
Learn to solve not just any problem. Identify the problems that matter. Not everything that gives you a sense of achievement is actually worth spending your energy and that of your organization. Learn to identify dependencies, feedback loops and drivers of dynamics. Map out relevant stakeholders and choose how to involve them in your decision process and solution creation. Learn to approach problems smartly, and create value for others while you support your organization's strategic goals.
Module 2
Develop discernment and choose your course of action by taking hypothesis-guided steps to solution generation. Explore perspectives and challenge your thoughts and perceptions to find the overarching picture. Orient yourself and others in the problem landscape and design informative interventions that help you identify suitable steps to take. Become more proficient in judging what you know and how to assess your options.
Module 3
Can it work? Identify suitable leverage points, smart actions and design useful interventions to come up with solutions. Organize yourself and help others tackle the relevant problems, generate solutions that support the strategic goals of your organization, and communicate effectively. Do the doable and build from there.
1:1 Coaching to troubleshoot
Sometimes we seem to know what to do — and still feel that we can’t take action. In this case, a 1:1 coaching can help you work through roadblocks and find your feasible next steps. Personal sessions are available as an upgrade option.
Background
The Causable Journey is based on a systemic transformative leadership and executive coaching methodology developed at University of St. Gallen. We add training elements for those questions that you can better handle when you understand some background on how humans make decisions and explore their thoughts fruitfully, by themselves or together with others. If you go through this program in a version that we offer through your employer, you will also practice certain skills in interactive peer groups.
The core of this exercise relies on you going your personal path, trying your new skills out in the field, and returning to reflect with us. The Causable Journey provides scaffolding based on scientific insights from neuroeconomics on learning and decision-making. Its key steps are derived from years of learning, observing, teaching joint decision-making in research and development and multiple industries, and of course, making actual decisions on how to develop products, build new digital services and open up new markets.
While you can engage with the program self-paced whenever your work week allows (or when you look for some space to reflect together), it could typically take between 3 and 12 months to make a noticeable step forward. This depends on how intensely you can focus on your own development, and practice and reflect on your observations to build and refine your judgment skills.
1:1 Summary
In a final personal coaching session, we help you synthesize everything you have learned. Together we reflect on your insights so that you can distill them into a clear, actionable approach that you can take forward.
